At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, during the period of harsh travel restrictions, lock downs, rampant loss, intense fear and anxiety, my husband was attacked by thugs as he was returning home from work leading to severe brain injuries and a massive shaking of life as I knew it. This was followed by multiple surgeries, months in hospital and years of rehabilitation. In these times, God has been my help especially when nothing else makes sense.
Psalm 91:1 is a beautiful reminder of the help that I have on a daily basis because I live in the dwelling of the most High God. I can count on this dwelling to provide covering from wind, rain, hail, and snow. I can also count on the shelter’s shadow beyond the dwelling wherever I am, regardless of whatever is going on in my life.
This is reality is true not only for me but for families, organisations, and nations. The knowledge that we are covered under a shadow that we can trust has enabled me to carry out my daily tasks with diligence, confidence and courage knowing that I am not alone even when life, assignments and commitments may be overwhelming.
Sometimes, we do not know what we ought to do but we can be sure that when we are abiding under the shadow of the Almighty; He is willing to give us the help that we need whether we are aware of it or not.
Are you feeling overwhelmed? In which area do you need to remember that you are under the shadow of the Almighty?
